About Us:
Why Tugboat?
We’re not outside consultants.
We’re students actively using this technology ourselves.
That means we understand:
What actually works in a classroom
What keeps students engaged
What feels overwhelming when you’re just starting
What tools and workflows are realistic on a school budget
Everything we share comes from real experience.
Built by Students, For Students
Tugboat was started by young makers who saw how powerful 3D printing could be when students are given the tools and the freedom to experiment.
We know what it’s like to troubleshoot a failed print at 10 PM.
We know how exciting it is to hold a finished design for the first time.
And we know how much confidence that process builds.
That perspective shapes everything we do.

Looking Ahead
Tugboat is growing alongside the technology we care about. 3D printing continues to evolve quickly, and we’re committed to evolving with it — learning new tools, testing new materials, refining our skills, and sharing what actually works.
As we move forward, our focus is simple: expand access, strengthen community, and raise the standard for what student-led innovation can look like.
We want to see more classrooms equipped with reliable printers and real support.
More students designing parts that solve real problems.
More young makers confident enough to turn an idea into something they can hold in their hands.
We’re continuing to build stronger educational resources, develop deeper technical experience, and connect with other students who are serious about engineering and design. Tugboat isn’t a short-term project — it’s something we’re committed to growing long-term.
The future of 3D printing won’t just be shaped by large companies or industry professionals. It will also be shaped by students who are learning now, experimenting now, and pushing boundaries early.
We’re proud to be part of that group — and we’re just getting started.
